Creating a Logo

First impressions are everything. Logos are often used to represent a business, person or company effectively. A logo that is recognisable and individual can be used in all sorts of promotional material providing instant public recognition.

Sourcing a good logo can be difficult, below is a screenshot of an email I sent to a student studying Graphic Design. The reason I did not decide to create one for myself is for various reasons; the logo needs to be strong, appropriate and particularly professional considering this will later become an image that will represent my work and career.

We got together and began brainstorming about layout, orientation, borders, shapes, patterns, font and lettering. We drew some sketches of how the business cards may look before graphic designer Louise began designing them for me.

We tested and put together these logos after the second design she created because the font and design just wasn’t right for me. We played around with how my initials and how my name could look in different font. I most liked the ones that would link all together with a small brush line or something like that. My favourite design was the one I now have as my business card because to me the aesthetics of the initials along with the title worked the best together.
