Lip Augmentation Experiments

Tuplast

Often the problem with overdrawing lips is that it is visible by the inability to cover up the natural protruding edge that can be seen still under most lipsticks. Although the tuplast did not work seamlessly and had visible lumps it did manage to cover the natural lip line on the top lip and allow a bulging edge.

The tuplast was applied from the tube onto the top lip. This was extremely difficult as the tuplast had a tendancy to set too quick and not be blended over the whole lip. A red raspberry Rimmel London lipstick was applied over the lip liner and over the tuplast.

There is quite obviously a difference between the two pictures above that has been achieved both through the use of overdrawing the lips with makeup and Tuplast applied to enhance the size of the top lip.

First of all a Kryolan red lip liner was used to map out the shape of the lips, the top lip was overdrawn and the cupids bow was drawn on also. The bottom lip was defined and balanced.

Here are the lips before any product has been applied, there is only a slight cupids bow and the bottom lip is larger than the top.

Geletine

I mixed up the warm geletine and started to apply it onto the lips with a wooden spatula. The geletine was relitively translucent so some of the colour from the lip liner underneath was still visible.

Using a Makeup Revolution lipstick in the shade 3 that is a pinky red colour I applied a coat over the geletine to colour. The lipstick coated the geletine consistently and the clear appearance was covered.

First of all kryolan red lip liner was applied all over the lips with a redrawn shape slightly bigger than the natural lip line.

I decided to try geletine to create lip enhancement as it is less temperamental than tuplast. The geletine doesn't set right away so there is time to alter the product before it sets,

Above are the lips before anything has been applied.

The geletine was easy to build up in layers because it sets firm therefore more can lay on top of the previous layer. I applied around three layers of the geletine until I had created the bulbus shape shown above.

I was really impressed by the outcome of the geletine. I did not expect the product to build up so much yet keeping the intitial shape of the lips just enlarged significantly.

The geletine lips relate to examples where plastic surgery have gone wrong where large amounts of filler have been pumped into the lips. There is a current fashion to get silicone implants inserted into the lips to create a strikingly large pout.

The geletine is bumpy and not completely smooth but it was very difficult to achieve a soft finish because the geletine is so sticky, The experiments have been successful and the geletine option definitely offers a more consistent and dramatic look.
