The youtube clip above is from a bollywood film falling a traditional storyline of boy meets girl, they fall in love, he finally gains acceptance from the parents of the woman. The clip is interesting to watch to see the makeup and fashion trends in bollywood. The word Bollywood is a play on “Hollywood”, with the B coming from Bombay (now known as Mumbai), the center of the film world. Bollywood is one of the largest film producers in India and one of the largest centres of film production in the world. Bollywood actors and actresses are payed massive sums to star in films. Below are some pictures of popular actresses and actors in bollywood at the moment.

Bollywood Actors and Actresses
Above are two actresses and two actorsof Bollywood, they are some of the highest paid actors in the worlds. From left to right their names are: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who charges 17 million for each film, Kareena Kapoor who charges around 20 million, Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan. Bollywood Makeup
The clothing is very luxurious covered in sequins and gems. The women are very glamorous and the bollywood films play a big part in the fashions of india.
Although the makeup in the image above is heavier the roundness in the eyes and plumpness in the lips and cheeks are still noticable as a common bollywood makeup.

The fashion in bollywood is extremely colourful and exaggerated. Lots of gold and silver jewellery is worn including head pieces, necklacesm earrings, rings, noserings and earrings.
The focus is on rounded features instead of angular ones creating softly arched brows, large focus on the ideal almond eye shape and full lips.
The make-up above is a classic example of how eyeshadow is used to create a deeper and larger socket line.
At one point bollywood makeup used to be caked and extremely heavy when before cameras were of HD quality therefore allowing the makeup to still look good on camera even if it was thick. Since technology has advanced and cameras are able to pick up considerable detail the makeup has become slightly more natural. Actors and actresses are realising that they do not need as much makeup as before.
Fashion Interpretations
The three images shown above are all fashion shoots that reflect bollywood makeup and costume. The images main focus is on the large and heavy jewellery worn by indian women. Although all the pictures are extremely modern and all the models do not wear traditional indian/ bollywood makeup the link between them is still obvious.
