Fashion Editorial Henna Inspired Make-Up

I was happy with the outcome of the second makeup attempt, the pictures below show the final look.

Using a felt pen eye liner by MUA I began to freehand draw all the henna detail onto the skin including the neck henna.

Using the eyeshadow shade 9 down 2 across from the crown brushes eyeshadow palette I applied colour to the inner and outer corners of the eyelid continuing the shadow onto the temples and into the hair. I also used this colour to contour with, down the nose and under the cheekbones.

The wave in the hair adds a really nice effect to the makeup and shows the colouration in the hair much more. I did find the henna difficult to do first hand because symmetry is hard to create and there is one area of the neck piece that is completely off center but the make-up was fun and interesting to create.

The makeup concept was successful however the process was rushed and the idea had to be quickly thought of. Having done this first attemot I went home and designed what I wanted the makeup to look like.

The first attempt at a fashion editorial henna inspired makeup is shown above created after scetching a quick henna design onto the head and focus on the large spikey black brows.

With the makeup I began by blocking out the brows with wax in order for me to redraw the brows higher. I applied a coverage of NC35 Mac studio fix foundation over the face creating a base colour, I then used white greasepaint to create areas of brightness for example on the cheekbones down the centre of the face and around the hair line to blend into the colour in the hair.

I started by creating the hairstyle, I put the hair into a beehive shape using lots of backcombing with the natural wave left in the hair. The model has very short hair however the hairstyle gave the appearance of much longer hair. I painted ythe hair with white aquacolour.

The picture above shows the design I created having really thought about the make-up look I wanted to achieve. Inspired by the picture at the beginning of this page the look above is what i came up with. I loved the idea of using a ruff as costume so I made one from a white piece of silk.
