Reflecting on Specialist Practice I am extremely confident that I have progressed from level five. I have made independent decisions informing my work and final outcome, I have also recognised the progression in my self-confidence during make-up applications. I collaborated successfully with a photographer, model and received regular advice from a fashion stylist. It was exciting to work with contacts that helped to achieve relevant and effective images.
Time management was vital for me during this project more than any project I have done before, I had a lot of setbacks that meant if I had not have managed my time efficiently from the start I may not have even been able to shoot the final look. Luckily I had spent considered time researching because my model changed four weeks in, it was for the better since the new model had more experience however it did delay me slightly.
I became very ill around week eight with a kidney infection, it was disrupting my work pattern and I was unable to move from my bed for around two weeks, this limited the amount of practical work I could do. The intention was to shoot on the 14th of December this was a date both model and photographer were available, however my photographer later asked to bring the date forward otherwise she could not be involved, consequently we shot on the 8th of December. The lead up to the shoot was a very stressful time for I was still extremely ill and now had a week less than first thought. I decided not to apply for an extension on my work because I knew I could finish the project and the shoot if I worked very hard to get the practical work finished and I wanted to prevent the overrun into major project in 2016.
The outcome is what I had specified in my proposal so I am reassured that I have achieved what I set out to create for specialist practise. I am confident I have final images fit for purpose as I have considered the context throughout. The only thing I would change about this project is the amount of testing I did however it was very difficult as being ill limited the amount of practical time I had. On the other hand I did not make as many mistakes because I had more time to plan and consider what would work and what would not work, therefore when I began the practical there were not as many setbacks as there could have been.
I have never focused on hair in a project before so I was taking a risk as it was slightly out of my comfort zone however I knew I liked knotting, weaving and styling hair so it made sense to explore into fantasy. Moving into major project I am more confident in my abilities than ever before and I can apply the skills I have learnt since level 4 effectively into my work to improve the final outcome and produce images that are portfolio worthy in order to move into the industry with a wide but advanced skill base.
