Full Make-Up Practise

In the image above I had applied benefit brow mascara to the brow hairs and wiggled the wand upwards to extend and define the brows to make them feathery. This product really worked on the brows however I applied the product too early because the eyeshadow smudged over the brows once I had done them so in the final shoot I will do them after eyes.

I prepped the skin with Mac prep and prime skin visage which acted as a primer between the skin and the foundation.

I applied a base mix of NC15 and NW20 mac studio fix foundation I applied a thin coverage but it was however too light coverage and I had not adressed problem areas or red colouration on the skin, I will make sure to do this in the final shoot and also to make the foundation slightly warmer.

I applied the Tropical Indulgence colour 05 from the naked cosmetics collection on the centre of the eyelid as the main colour. I think the pigment can be stronge than it was in this test so in the final I will apply more water to the brush to make the pigment a brighter colour but I will also apply it higher on the eyelid so it is more impacting.

I applied Twilight 04 on thr outer sides of the nose and on the outside edges of the eyes diffusing outwards onto the temples. This enhances the width of the eye area and creates a bigger focus on the eyes.

I applied the Heavy Metal silver 01 in the corners of the eyes and under the brows to add highlight.

I added more colour on the outside of the socket and mixed a few of the previous colours together. This was to again add more colour to add impact to the look.

I then added Heavy Metal shade 06 dark blue to the outer corners of the eyes this adds depth to the socket.

I then applied the silver and blue onto the lip area after applying a collection 2000 blue kohl eyeliner as a lip liner to contol colour spread.

The one thing I need to be careful of next time is the eyeshadow pigment drop, I applied a lot of variations of colour on the eyelids and the product did drop once the wetness had dried.

I applied Kryolan clown white with a fan brush with a stippling technique over the eye look. I had not tried this yet but I was curious to see if it worked and added another element to the look.

I went back over the eyebrows with the same brow mascara to define the colour again and this time it was more successful.

I added a small amount of makeup international blusher on the cheeks because the colours are quite cold and the skin needed a slight warm up.

I then applied the dark blue colour under the cheekbones and blended the colour upwards. This creates definition and enhances the cheekbones.

The white was just a test on the eyes however it does appear to dull down the colour quite a lot and actually does not have much relevance to my research so I am definitely not going to apply it in my final shoot. There are quite a few things that I need to think about more before the final shoot and how I can improve the look, considering this was the first time I had put all of the pieces together I think this is a good time to work out what works and what doesn't and be prepared for the final shoot. It has been difficult to cram in practise time because of being unwell and the shoot being brought forward but it was good for me to test things I thought might work.

As I explained above there are a few things I need to improve for the final shoot, this mainly includes my product placement. Now I have worked out the exact colours I want to use I now need to focus on applying the colours in the best way to enhance the models features but also get the most out of the amazing eyeshadows. I am really happy with the metallics so I know I have chosen the right products which is great. Other things I need to remember is:

  • Do the eyebrows after the pigment as it can get messy.

  • Cover problem areas and focus on the face makeup as much as the eye makeup and colour.

  • Think more about product placement and sharpening the colours up.

  • Warm the base up with contour highlight and blusher since the face makeup is just as important.

  • I also finally think I need to add a bit more definition in the eyes with some mascara and eyeliner but not too much that it distracts from the colours.
