Tutorial 06/10/15
This tutorial record is from the first tutorial I had regarding Specialist Practice.
I had a rough idea about where my project could head so I explained to Carolyne I was looking to base my work around hair through wigs and hair sculpture. My idea surrounds concepts of beauty within animals rather than humans and had the idea of a human representing a certain animal or animal quality that was regarded as beautiful. The idea that a person could adapt to behold certain animal characteristics that made them more desired. This would later link to my dissertation. I made it clear to Carolyne I was looking to show representation rather than the creation of the animal in the hair as I am aware of it not being original as I have seen it done before. Carolyne recommended I focus on reptiles and birds as there is lots of room for experimentation through textures and colours.

Tutorial 20/10/15
Had a short tutorial with Carolyne after a lecture, we discussed the idea of making a wig for this project. We had a conversation about why I was making a wig and I began to realise the reasons I had were the reasons I would use a hair piece or extension instead- I explained that my model did not have the length of hair I needed however I was not intending to change the colour with the wig. This was such a vital tutorial for my project since until this point I had just decided I was making a wig without really thinking about the other options. Options that were much more cost effective and suitable for the context. Up until now my research had been focusing on wigs and I was just about ready to order hair. So, after the tutorial I held off on ordering hair and I began really thinking about other options and the justification behind it.

Tutorial 30/10/15
Since the last tutorial I had gone away and done some research into the type of hair I ideally would use and also had changed the idea of making a wig as I realised it was not necessary for me to do so. Instead I had decided to research into hair pieces that I could add to my models own hair. I still had not ordered the hair as I had another model in mind that was better suited to the project and has had modelling experience unlike the model I currently had however I was in the process of hearing back from her to confirm.
During the tutorial I spoke to Carolyne about the context of my project. I suggested I had thought about advertising for a hairspray instead of a makeup product as I wanted the focus to be on the hair. I questioned whether it was possible for me to link the hair spray to the animal idea through the fact the product could be cruelty free. Carolyne agreed that this was a good idea and suggested that if there wasn't a cruelty free hairspray on the market that I advertise it for a brand that is cruelty free but doesn't necesserily sell hairspray like Lush Cosmetics.
The tutorial was very helpful and started to get the ball rolling to determine exactly the context. I also mentioned about the possible model change and Carolyne agreed it was much better for me to choose someone with previous modelling experience.

Tutorial 13/11/15 Week 7
This tutorial with Carolyne was more reassurance that I was on the right track in terms of research and website work. I showed Carolyne the types of things I have been researching and she gave me a few things I could further focus on which was helpful. I explained that I was feeling slightly behind practically since I hadn't properly started my hair frame yet but equally I was glad I had not because my model has since changed and if I had have ordered the hair it would have been wrong anyway.
Tutorial 20/11/15 Week 8
In this tutorial we discussed specific products I could use to create the irridescence effect. Carolyne suggested I look into Naked Cosmetics line of shimmer eyeshadow pots. I had tested a few products before this but the pigment in them was not as strong as I hoped and I was searching for a more suitable range. I mentioned to Carolyne that I was advertising a collection that I had decided to call 'Astrapia' after the bird of paradise as each illamasqua collection has its own specific name for example; Earth, Equinox, Glamore. We discussed the idea of this and she agreed it was an appropriate name for the look. I then went away to research the products and purchase them for my shoot.
